Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs the use of all services, infrastructure, and resources provided by Saddle Network (Saddle Networks LLC, “Saddle Network”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By using any Saddle Network service — including but not limited to IP address leasing, colocation, DNS resolution, BGP connectivity, and peering — you (“Customer”, “User”, or “Peer”) agree to comply with this policy.

This AUP applies to all customers, users, peers, and any party that directly or indirectly makes use of Saddle Network’s resources or infrastructure.

You bear sole and exclusive responsibility for all activities conducted through your use of Saddle Network services. Saddle Network is a conduit and resource provider; it does not direct, supervise, or control how customers use allocated resources. Accordingly, customers accept full liability for any harm, legal exposure, or third-party claims arising from their use of Saddle Network services.

The following activities are strictly prohibited on all Saddle Network services and resources:

  • Denial of Service Attacks: Launching, facilitating, or participating in any form of Denial of Service (DoS) or Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack against any host, network, or service.
  • Port Scanning / Network Probing: Conducting unauthorized scanning, probing, or enumeration of networks or systems that you do not own or have explicit permission to test.
  • Spoofing: Transmitting traffic with forged or spoofed source IP addresses. All traffic originating from Saddle Network-assigned address space must use legitimate source addresses.
  • BGP Hijacking / Route Leaking: Announcing prefixes you do not own or have authorization to announce, or leaking routes in a manner that causes unintended transit. Peers and customers must only originate prefixes covered by their own allocations or a valid Letter of Authorization (LOA).
  • Amplification and Reflection Attacks: Using open resolvers, misconfigured services, or any other mechanism to amplify or reflect traffic for the purpose of attacking third parties.
  • Email Spam: Sending unsolicited bulk email, commercial or otherwise, including but not limited to marketing messages, phishing attempts, or messages that violate CAN-SPAM, GDPR, or similar regulations.
  • Bulk Messaging: Sending unsolicited bulk messages over any protocol or platform (SMS, instant messaging, social networks, etc.).
  • Phishing and Fraud: Operating infrastructure used for phishing, credential harvesting, fraud, social engineering, or impersonation of any entity.
  • Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM): Hosting, distributing, or facilitating the transmission of any material that sexually exploits minors. This is an absolute prohibition with no exceptions.
  • Malware and Exploit Distribution: Hosting, distributing, or operating command-and-control (C2) infrastructure for malware, ransomware, botnets, or any malicious software.
  • Copyright Infringement: Using Saddle Network resources to host, distribute, or facilitate the distribution of copyrighted material without authorization.
  • Illegal Activities: Any use that violates applicable local, national, or international law, including but not limited to computer fraud, unauthorized access to systems, and sanctions violations.
  • Resale Without Authorization: Reselling or subletting Saddle Network services, IP address space, or peering arrangements to third parties without prior written authorization.
  • Excessive Resource Consumption: Intentionally consuming network, compute, or bandwidth resources in a manner that materially degrades service quality for other customers or peers.
  • Unauthorized Access: Attempting to gain unauthorized access to Saddle Network infrastructure, management systems, or any other customer’s resources.
  • Cryptocurrency Mining: Using Saddle Network infrastructure, address space, or network resources for cryptocurrency mining or similar proof-of-work operations, except where explicitly authorized in a written agreement. This applies to colocation customers and any service where resource consumption is shared or not otherwise accounted for.
  • Catch-All: Engaging in any activity that Saddle Network determines, in its sole discretion, to be harmful to the network, its customers, third parties, or Saddle Network’s reputation or operations, even if not explicitly enumerated above.

All IP address allocations provided by Saddle Network — whether IPv4 or IPv6 — are issued as a revocable, non-transferable license to use address space that remains under Saddle Network’s ownership and RIR delegation. No IP address allocation constitutes an asset sale, conveyance of title, or permanent right of use. The customer acquires only a limited license to use the designated address space for the duration of the active service agreement, subject to the terms of this AUP.

Customers may not sell, transfer, broker, sub-allocate, or otherwise assign their licensed address space to any third party without prior written authorization from Saddle Network. Unauthorized transfers are grounds for immediate termination.

Customers leasing or using Saddle Network IP address space are solely responsible for the security of their systems, routing infrastructure, and any downstream users. This includes maintaining up-to-date software and firmware, controlling access to BGP sessions and management interfaces, and ensuring that their allocated resources are not exploited by third parties. Saddle Network bears no liability for harm arising from a customer’s failure to secure their own infrastructure.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that all traffic originating from their allocated resources complies with this AUP.

  • Announced Prefixes: Customers must only announce prefixes that have been explicitly allocated to them or for which they hold a valid Letter of Authorization (LOA). Prefix announcements must accurately reflect the allocated space and must not exceed the allocated size. Announcing a more-specific prefix derived from a Saddle Network allocation without written authorization is prohibited.
  • RPKI / Route Validation: Customers are strongly encouraged to maintain valid Route Origin Authorizations (ROAs) for their allocated prefixes. Saddle Network filters based on RPKI validity and reserves the right to drop invalid or RPKI-invalid announcements without notice.
  • Reverse DNS: Customers are encouraged to maintain accurate and up-to-date reverse DNS (PTR) records for their allocated address space. Saddle Network may assist with PTR delegation upon request.
  • Reporting Changes: Customers must promptly notify Saddle Network of any significant changes in the use of their allocated address space, including changes in downstream customer or end-user assignments, upstream provider changes, or material changes in traffic volume or type.
  • Clean Usage: IP address space must not be used for any activity prohibited by this AUP. Saddle Network reserves the right to null-route, revoke, or reallocate address space that is used for prohibited activities or that has become listed on public abuse or blocklist databases as a result of customer activity. Customers are responsible for any delisting costs or remediation work arising from their misuse.
  • No Fragmentation: Customers must not announce or route prefixes in a manner that artificially fragments Saddle Network’s address space beyond what is operationally necessary. Announcements of prefixes more specific than what is allocated require explicit written authorization.

Saddle Network may revoke an IP address allocation at any time for violation of this AUP, non-payment, or as required by ARIN policy or applicable law. Upon termination, the customer must immediately cease announcing the allocated prefixes and must not retain any claim to the address space. No compensation is owed for revocation resulting from a policy violation.

Saddle Network occasionally offers promotional “Lifetime” IPv6 leasing arrangements. These terms apply exclusively to customers who have purchased a Lifetime lease and supplement all other sections of this AUP.

A Lifetime lease is a revocable, non-transferable license for use of the designated IPv6 address space. It is not a sale of IP resources and conveys no ownership interest. “Lifetime” is defined as the operational lifespan of the specific service offering — that is, for as long as Saddle Network continues to offer the leased address space under this program and maintains the necessary RIR delegation.

Saddle Network commits to a target service continuity of 10 years, with a maximum commitment of up to 100 years, subject to the conditions below.

This commitment is contingent upon all of the following remaining true for the duration of the lease:

  1. Continued Ownership: Saddle Network retains ownership of and RIR delegation for the address range from which the allocation is made.
  2. ARIN Compliance: The address space remains in good standing with ARIN, including timely payment of registration fees and adherence to ARIN’s registration policies.
  3. Customer Compliance: The customer remains in full compliance with this AUP and all applicable Saddle Network policies at all times.

The Lifetime lease and all associated service continuity commitments are voided immediately and without refund upon the occurrence of either of the following:

  1. Abuse Policy Violation: The customer violates this AUP, including but not limited to engaging in spam, phishing, operating command-and-control (C2) infrastructure, hosting illicit content, or any other prohibited activity. Termination under this provision is effective immediately and no refund or credit will be issued under any circumstances.

  2. Loss of RIR Delegation: Saddle Network loses its RIR delegation over the relevant address space due to regulatory action, non-payment of RIR fees, voluntary return, or business closure. In this event, the license terminates immediately, and Saddle Network bears no liability or obligation to the customer for any damages, losses, or costs arising from the termination.

All payments for Lifetime leases are final and non-refundable. By purchasing a Lifetime lease, the customer acknowledges and agrees that:

  • “Lifetime” refers to the operational lifespan of the service offering, not the customer’s own lifetime or any fixed calendar period.
  • The service may be terminated in accordance with the conditions above without refund or compensation.
  • Saddle Network makes no warranty of perpetual service and shall not be liable for any business loss, reputational harm, or other damages resulting from termination of a Lifetime lease.

Lifetime leases are non-transferable. They may not be sold, assigned, gifted, or otherwise conveyed to any third party. Attempting to transfer a Lifetime lease will result in immediate termination without refund.

Users of Saddle Network’s recursive DNS service must comply with the following:

  • Authorized Use Only: The DNS service is intended for use by authorized customers and their end users. Mass querying, automated scraping, or using the service as part of an attack infrastructure is prohibited.
  • No Abuse of Resolver: The DNS resolver must not be used to facilitate DNS-based attacks, including DNS amplification attacks, cache poisoning attempts, or circumvention of lawful content restrictions.
  • Rate Limits: Saddle Network may apply rate limiting at its discretion to protect service quality. Attempts to circumvent rate limiting are prohibited.

Customers colocating equipment in Saddle Network facilities must comply with the following in addition to all other sections of this AUP:

  • Physical Security: Customers may only access their own equipment and must not tamper with or interfere with the equipment of other customers or Saddle Network infrastructure.
  • Power and Space: Customers must not exceed their contracted power draw or occupy space beyond their contracted allocation. Overprovisioning power or rack space without prior authorization is prohibited.
  • Compliance with Facility Rules: All persons accessing Saddle Network or partner data center facilities must comply with the facility’s own rules and access procedures.
  • Equipment Standards: Colocated equipment must not create interference, excessive noise, or other conditions that negatively impact the facility or other customers.
  • Prohibited Equipment: Customers may not colocate equipment intended for use in prohibited activities as defined in this AUP.

All peering arrangements are subject to Saddle Network’s Peering Policy in addition to this AUP. Key requirements include:

  • Peers must only originate prefixes they own or are authorized to announce.
  • Peers must not use Saddle Network’s network as unauthorized transit.
  • Peers must not engage in any form of abuse, spam, or illegal activity through the peering session.
  • Saddle Network reserves the right to terminate any peering session that violates this AUP or the Peering Policy, with or without prior notice.

Saddle Network has sole and absolute discretion to determine whether a violation of this AUP has occurred and what action to take in response. Saddle Network’s determination is final. Saddle Network is under no obligation to provide a cure period, warning, or opportunity to remedy a violation before taking action, though it may choose to do so at its discretion.

Saddle Network reserves the right to take any of the following actions in response to violations of this AUP:

  • Warning: Issuing a formal warning to the customer or peer.
  • Rate Limiting or Traffic Shaping: Restricting the bandwidth or traffic profile of a customer or peer.
  • Null Routing / Blackholing: Null routing specific IP addresses or prefixes associated with abusive traffic.
  • Content or Prefix Removal: Removing or withdrawing specific routes, delegations, or content associated with abusive activity.
  • Suspension: Temporarily suspending access to services, including peering sessions or IP allocations.
  • Termination: Permanently terminating services and revoking IP allocations without refund.
  • Cost Recovery: Charging the customer for reasonable investigation, remediation, or third-party costs incurred as a result of the violation.
  • Legal Action and Reporting: Referring the matter to law enforcement, relevant RIRs, or other authorities, and pursuing civil remedies where appropriate.

Saddle Network will generally attempt to notify the responsible party before taking action, except where the abuse is severe, ongoing, or requires immediate remediation to protect the network or third parties. Saddle Network reserves the right to act without notice where delay would cause harm.

Saddle Network is not liable for any damages, losses, or costs — including loss of business, loss of data, or reputational harm — arising from enforcement actions taken in good faith under this AUP. Service interruptions resulting from enforcement do not entitle the customer to credits, refunds, or compensation of any kind.

Saddle Network has no obligation to monitor customer traffic, activity, or the content of communications traversing its network. The absence of monitoring does not limit Saddle Network’s right to investigate and act upon reported or discovered violations.
